Ministries of the ISD SPIRITUAL RESOURCES FOR INDIVIDUALS AND PARISHES
The ISD Council of Ministries are working groups of alumni that guide and coordinate all phases of the Institute for Spiritual Direction within the Pastoral Plan of the Bishop and the fundamental Ideals of the Institute.
The glue that brings all of the components together for ISD is a dynamic communication plan.
Review and update ISD promotional materials. This might include mission, vision, and value statements, useful cards and resources, and FAQ handouts.
A well developed communications plan with refined informational materials that allow ISD to get the word out about events, opportunities, through social media such as Facebook, Instagram and the website.
Ongoing creation of more in-depth materials such as the Newsletter, the ISD presentation library and full-page handouts for those seeking more and deeper understanding of spiritual direction.
In recognition of the universal call to holiness and in recognition of a great need to develop and equip God’s people in their discernment of a possible call to spiritual directorship:
Review and update the prerequisites for candidates in order to assist candidates in the discernment process as well as provide an intellectually and spiritually sound foundation.
In order to ensure the highest quality program, an annual review will be conducted of existing syllabi, books and lecturers.
To remain spirit-led and professionally current, other source materials and potential instructors and presenters will be solicited, reviewed and considered for future ISD academic programs.
ISD Retreats Commission
In order to ensure sustainable and well attended retreats that are spirit led and run seamlessly for both the retreat team and the attendees:
Creation, design and review of content for ISD retreats
Review the current practices for inviting attendees and building the retreat team to determine efficacy.
Create plans for well attended retreats and for building strong retreat teams.
Develop a catalog of ongoing templates, checklists and training materials to execute a seamless retreat.
ISD Local Parish Ministry
In order to establish a strong local parish ministry that encourages spiritual growth and maturity:
A plan that includes promoting individual spiritual direction, facilitating parish based multi-week programs, and developing Small Christian Groups.
Develop methodology that empower the spiritual director in leadership development at their local parish.
Work with adult ministry directors with the goal to complete needs assessment surveys.
Gather input from parish priests and pastoral leaders on how the ISD can best serve their parish on their journey toward spiritual growth and maturity.
Develop an implementation plan for ISD local parish ministry.
ISD Alumni Development and Sustainability
Recognizing as Spiritual Directors that the journey toward spiritual growth and maturity is a lifelong endeavor, a strong graduate community of peers will be nurtured and promoted on an ongoing basis to explore the questions, issues and personal growth challenges that accompany the work of good spiritual direction:
Develop an implementation plan for well-attended and regularly scheduled Alumni Journey Group meetings for spiritual and professional development and peer support.
Create an atmosphere of celebration from the welcoming of new cohorts through graduation that encourages on-going participation by developing joyful events.
Explore opportunities for ISD Community reunions such as: annual retreats, Mass with potlucks, and parish-hosted meetings that promote the ISD.
In order to remain good stewards of God’s resources to provide a nurturing and welcoming environment through hospitality and to maintain the high-quality offerings at the ISD:
A proforma budget with fundraising goals will be developed annually
Review past expenses and future goals in order to create a budget, both operational and aspirational.
Upon completion of the budget, create a roadmap of possible fundraising activities to meet the operational budget
Create a donor "wish list" to fulfill the aspirational portion of the budget
